Past TWIRI Conferences
TWIRI Conference 2023
In November, 2023 we were delighted to host the third TWIRI Conference! Building upon the resounding success of our previous conferences in 2018 and 2019, this gathering served as a platform for nearly 100 clinicians, researchers, service providers, and community members to engage in meaningful conversations surrounding the health and wellbeing of trans women impacted by HIV. This year's conference theme was "Access to Healthcare for Trans Women". Research presentations, community and service provider panels, and a collaborative exercise to create a policy brief were used to explore ways to enhance health access and outcomes for trans women living with and affected by HIV.

We would like to share our gratitude to the funders of our event, Gilead Sciences Inc. and Maple Leaf Research. We would not be able to host the event without their support!

TWIRI Conference 2018
On April 5th 2018, the first annual Trans Women and HIV Research Initiative (TWIRI) conference was held at The 519, a community centre that responds to the needs of the LGBTQ community. Over 50 academic experts, service providers, and community members joined together to share data and perspectives regarding the experience of trans women with HIV regarding their access to healthcare and determinants of health.
